The California Wilderness Act of 1984 designated 83 miles of the Tuolumne River, from its headwaters within Yosemite National Park to Don Pedro Reservoir, as a component of the National Wild and Scenic River System. The Stanislaus National Forest offers white water boating on the Tuolumne River in cooperation with eight commercial outfitters. These outfitters operate within a permit system , under which the number of trips and passengers are limited. For more information, contact these companies directly.
