Tuolumne Meadows is a large, open sub-alpine meadow graced by the winding Tuolumne River and surrounded by majestic peaks and domes. Picnic areas and miles of hiking trails are available. Tuolumne Meadows is located 55 miles from Yosemite Riverside Inn via Highway 120 and the Tioga Road. Generally open from late spring through late fall, the Tioga Road between Crane Flat and Tuolumne Meadows offers a 39 mile scenic drive through forests and lush meadows, pristine lakes and granite domes. Many turnouts offer broad and beautiful vistas. During the winter, this area is only accessible by cross-country skis or snowshoes.
